Privacy Policy
Short version: your work stays on your Mac. We only see what we need to check your license.
Who's responsible
[COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). Today that's an individual, Max Sieger. Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your Mac
Jean runs on a Mac you own. Your code, files, documents, Slack messages, the hub's board, lane notes, logs and secrets (Slack tokens, API keys) live on that Mac. They are not sent to us, and we can't see them.
What our servers see
Only license activation and validation. When Jean activates or checks your license, the request includes:
- your license key;
- an identifier for the Mac it's activated on, so we can count activations against your plan;
- basic request details that any web request carries, such as the IP address and time.
We use this only to confirm your license is valid, to stop keys being shared, and to help you if activation goes wrong. License checks go through Stripe's license service [CONFIRM against the shipped license check].
Purchases
Stripe processes payments. When you buy, Stripe collects your name, email, billing address and payment details and processes them under its privacy policy. We keep what we need to run your subscription: your email, plan, subscription status and license key. We never see your full card number.
Claude and Slack
Jean's lanes are Claude Code sessions signed in to your Claude account or API key. What they send to Claude goes from your Mac to Anthropic under your agreement with Anthropic. Jean's Slack app lives in your workspace; messages are handled by Slack under your agreement with Slack. We aren't a party to either and don't receive that content.
This website
- We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and the site doesn't run analytics.
- Our host, [Vercel], keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit.
- If you join the waitlist, we keep your email (and the plan you picked, if any) to write to you about early access. [Name the form provider here once the form is wired up.]
Support emails
If you write to us, we keep the conversation to help you. Please don't send passwords, tokens or API keys; we'll never ask for them.
How long we keep things
License and purchase records for as long as your subscription is active and then as long as tax and accounting law requires. Waitlist emails until you ask us to remove them or we launch and no longer need them. Support emails for up to [24 months].
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have further rights, including complaining to your data protection authority. Write to [email protected]. We don't sell personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and email customers before it takes effect.
